University of Miami Athletic Director Paul Dee has officially announced his intention to step down from his position. He won't be going far as he also included in his statement a desire to teach law at Miami.

"I have always wanted to teach," Dee said Wednesday. "This way, I can transition to the faculty and teach at the university for a few years before I retire."

Dee become Miami's AD in 2003 after having served as the school's vice president and general consul for the previous 12 years. During Dee's tenure Miami has gone from it's days in the early 90's as a program of thugs and convicts, to it's nearly squeaky clean image it holds today (with the notable exception of the brawl last year). Miami won both championships in football and baseball during his stay (2001, and 1999/2001 respectively).

Possibly his last major act as AD was the firing of Larry Coker and insuing hiring of former defensive coordinator Randy Shannon.

"We have had many challenges," said Dee "But we've had a lot more ups than downs. I've had a wonderful experience."
